Words of Life: Intimacy with God
Karen Carpenter sang a song many years ago called, “Close to You.†In the song she wanted to be close to the guy who was the dream of her life. The ironic thing is Karen never found real closeness with another person that could sustain her through her darkest hours. There is a verse in the Bible found in Hebrews 10:22 which says, “Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart…†We can get close to God because He wants us to come near Him. God is holy and just, God is full of purity and righteousness. We are sinful in our earthly condition and He still beckons us to come to Him. Why would He do that? It is because of the sacrifice of His Son Jesus on the cross, with the shedding of His blood that we are able to come near or close to God and He doesn’t reject us. God is amazing and He really loves us so much this very moment. I urge you to say a prayer in repentance and ask God to forgive you of your sin. It is only possible because of what Jesus did on the cross and His arising from the dead on the third day. Ask Him to come into your whole life and change you. Start speaking to Him on a regular basis and find out the intimacy you can have with God
