Words of Life for this week are:
“The cure for Racismâ€
As people of faith in Christ, we have the cure for racism and other hateful ideologies that people have embraced. The cure for racism is the gospel of Jesus Christ that is centered in his love. The love of God in Christ changes the human heart. Every person needs to repent of their sin and confess Jesus as Lord of their life.
Christians are leading the way in loving our neighbors, not hating our neighbors. There are people in our society and some that are even connected to churches that have adopted the twisted belief that one racial group is superior to another. The Scripture tells us in Galatians 3:26 the following, ” So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith…” Notice that is says we are “all” children of God. Later on it also says we are one in Christ. Since we are all children of God, our skin and culture have no bearing on how we should treat one another. Christ died on the cross for the sins of all humanity. He didn’t just die for one group of people. The third chapter in Galatians also says that we are clothed with Christ. Isn’t that a beautiful metaphor? In other words, we place the garment of the love of Christ into our minds and hearts when we receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. I would submit for your consideration that a person that does not love his neighbor because of their skin color or lifestyle choice or even religious persuasion, is not a true believer in Jesus Christ. At Tigard Covenant Church, we love everyone period, with no exceptions.
An overwhelming sense of joy rises up in my spirit when I love people, it’s the right thing to do, it pleases the Lord, and it will change our nation and the world for the better. Administer the cure today.
