Where is your Treasure?
In Matthew 6:21, Jesus says, “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.†The question we all need to answer is about what matters most to us. What are our life priorities or passions? Our priorities and passions are what drive or motivate us to action. Jesus is asking that question of all of us today. He makes the statement in Matthew 6 that our treasure should be in heaven. That means what matters most to God should matter most to us. It took me a while to reach that place in my life, but after I arrived there, I found out that I was most fulfilled and complete. When we align our priorities with God’s priorities, we are blessed. He created us to do good works. Serving other people and leading them to the person of Jesus Christ are two of the biggest joys we will ever know on earth. Your response to this might be, “Wait a minute Pastor David. Serving God and leading others to Jesus is better than……?†(You fill in the blank. The answer is yes.) “Well, how can that be Pastor David?†The bible says, “O taste and see that the Lord is good.†Once you have tasted of his Holy Spirit and the joy that He brings, you will want to do his will. Wait on the Lord and spend time alone with him. Go to church and worship him this Sunday and experience the presence of the Lord. Then you will want to do his will, and your treasure will be in heaven.
