Thanksgiving
We come together once a year as a country to have a Thanksgiving meal. In 1621, the English colonists called Pilgrams and the Wampanoag people celebrated Thanksgiving for their first successful harvest. Thanksgiving in the bible means to respond to God’s goodness and grace with gratitude. So I would like to ask you today, what are you thankful for? What blessings have you received over the last year and even this last week that you can give praise to God for. There is a hymn called, Count your Blessings and the first stanza says, “When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed, when you are discouraged thinking all is lost, count your many blessings, name them one by one, And it will surprise you what the Lord has done” What a good song in all of the negativity and sadness we face. This day, let’s look to the Lord with a thankful heart. When you eat your meal this year, go around the table and thank God for just one thing he has done for you. If you don’t have any plans for a Thanksgiving meal, I have a suggestion for you, join me this Tuesday night at 6 o’clock at Tigard Covenant Church, we are having a free community dinner.
Enjoy your meal and the presence of the Lord, Happy Thanksgiving
