Words of Life: Oh How I Love Him – May 20 2022

OH, How I love Him

Elizabeth Barrett Browning wrote the famous poem, “How Do I Love Thee?” The first line reads, “How do I love thee? Let me count the ways.” This describes how I feel about God in some small way. Elizabeth was sharing the feelings in her heart about someone who was human. When I think about God in His greatness and power, I am totally amazed. It takes a while for me to describe just how awesome He really is. He is wonderful. He is all knowing. He is the Almighty. He really cares about everyone. He is kind. He is sensitive and relates to what we face. I love Him, and that love grows more and more each day. Even now, I am blown away by the death of his Son, Jesus, on the cross for me. Think about it. Jesus is God, and He has the power of God. But He decided to give up His power to strike back at the soldiers who were  crucifying him on the cross. He did this for you and me. He could have called ten thousand angels to destroy the soldiers. He could have spoken a single word that would have been powerful enough to destroy them all. Yet, He stayed on the cross and died a painful death for you and me. I will love Him for all eternity. He really cares for you and me.
